This event is free and open to the public, taking place from 10 am to 4 pm each day. Not only will you be immersed in flying aerial feats, but you as the spectator can also enter the “best Kite Content” to showcase your creativity and flying prowess. American Kite Association members from across the East Coast will be here putting on routines set to music, you’ll witness giant kites, and you can even purchase one of your own to take part in the festivities.

Start your day with the 25th Annual Pungo Off Road Monsters on the Beach, a truly can’t-miss event for those who like to live on the edge of their seats! All weekend spectators will be treated to competitions; you can even sign up for a monster truck ride. This is truly great for all ages!

Once you’ve had your fill of monster trucks, hop in the car and take a short drive to Downtown Norfolk to the Bayou Bon Vivant - Cajun Music, Food, and Art Festival! The flavors and sounds of New Orleans come alive at Town Point Park during the festival. More than 8,000 pounds of live crawfish will be cooked as well as jambalaya, red beans and rice, and of course, beignets will all be available for purchase.

Salute to Summer

Memorial Day is not just the unofficial launch to summer, but also a time for our community to come together and honor our troops. Virginia Beach's annual Salute to Summer is a testament to our unwavering support. To kick off Memorial Day Weekend, free concerts will be held at 17th and 14th Street venues, creating a festive atmosphere for all. You can also pay tribute to our fallen heroes by experiencing the Heroes' Walk banners along the boardwalk, a poignant reminder of their sacrifice and our shared values.
